Four entries in the Improve menu
Task menu ▸ Improve
The first four entries are variants of the same thing: you select text, the model rewrites it, the result goes back into the document.
- Improve – general linguistic revision. Sentences get clearer, repetition goes, the tone stays.
- No Filler Words – removes words that carry nothing: "actually", "basically", "in the context of". The text gets shorter without losing content.
- More Friendly – shifts the tone. Useful for rejections, reminders, follow-ups.
- More Convincing – sharpens the argument.
All four need a selection. With no text selected, nothing happens.
The difference from "Correct"
Correct only intervenes where something is wrong. These four intervene wherever something could be said better – including where nothing was wrong. Expect more to change than you anticipate.
Making changes visible
Whether the result is inserted directly or shown as a tracked change depends on your settings. For these four, markup is almost always worth it: you then see sentence by sentence what the model rearranged, and you can reject individual changes.
Without markup the old text is gone the moment the result arrives.
What to check
- Terms of art. What the model considers clumsy may be the established expression in your field.
- Numbers, names, dates. They are supposed to stay unchanged – check that they did.
- Commitment. "More Friendly" can turn a deadline into a request. Read especially carefully in legally relevant text.
- Negations. Rephrasing can invert their meaning.
When formatting suffers
With very long selections formatting is partly lost. Work paragraph by paragraph rather than on a whole chapter.
